Arsenal’s efforts to bolster their attacking options have taken a familiar turn this summer, with the club reigniting talks with Atalanta over a potential deal for Ademola Lookman. As reported by Caught Offside, “Arsenal have restarted negotiations with Atalanta for Lookman, and the asking price is set at €45-50m plus add-ons.”
The Gunners have been casting a wide net in their search for a winger. Targets such as Nico Williams and Rodrygo Goes have faded from view, Williams now destined for Barcelona, and Rodrygo more likely to remain in Madrid. But Lookman presents a more realistic and obtainable solution.
The former Charlton, Everton and Fulham man has rebuilt his career with impressive style in Serie A. According to the report, “It is clear the former Charlton, Everton and Fulham man wants another shot at the Premier League now he has proved himself in Italy.”

Lookman’s output last season with Atalanta would be welcomed at the Emirates. Across 40 competitive appearances, he recorded 20 goals and seven assists, figures that highlight a wide player who not only creates but finishes consistently. In a side often accused of lacking killer instinct in tight games, that sort of contribution could be transformative.
His performances have also attracted attention elsewhere. Caught Offside adds: “Liverpool have also been keeping an eye on him, but Arsenal remained the most likely candidates and have now restarted those talks with an aim to do a deal this summer.”
Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright is said to be an admirer, and it’s easy to see why. Lookman’s resurgence in Italy has seen him mature technically and tactically, often combining end product with intelligent movement.
Any deal for Lookman will need to fit within a broader summer strategy. Arsenal are already in discussions for Cristhian Mosquera from Valencia and Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres. With multiple negotiations in motion, the timing and structure of each deal will be critical.

But Lookman’s name continues to sit high on the list. For Arteta, the appeal is clear: Premier League experience, improved maturity from his Serie A development, and the ability to slot into a high-pressing, possession-based system with minimal disruption.
At 26, he offers both immediate impact and short-term security, without blocking the longer-term progress of younger players like Reiss Nelson or Ethan Nwaneri.
For Arsenal, Lookman feels like a savvy, grounded signing. He’s not a marquee name in the mould of Rodrygo or Williams, but he brings proven output, positional versatility, and an underdog hunger that often resonates in north London.
At €45–50m, the price reflects a player who is in his peak years and has proven himself in a top European league. More importantly, he brings goals, and this side has been crying out for someone to take the pressure off Bukayo Saka in that regard.
We’ve seen what Lookman can do in big games, his hat-trick in a European final wasn’t just a purple patch, it was a statement. He can handle pressure, which is something this Arsenal side still has to master when it matters most.
If the club can get this deal over the line quickly, it would add depth, reliability and another dimension to Arteta’s attack. With Champions League football returning and the league title once again in reach, signings like this could make the difference in those fine margins that decide silverware.
