A Clear Signal: Kompany Cuts Four Bayern Stars from the Roster | OneFootball

FC Bayern has updated its roster for the 2026–27 season on its official website—sending a clear signal to several players who are likely to be sold. Four players with active contracts no longer appear on the official roster at all, underscoring their lack of playing prospects under Vincent Kompany.

In recent days, sporting director Max Eberl had already made it unmistakably clear that João Palhinha, Sacha Boey, and Bryan Zaragoza no longer play a role in the record champions’ plans. Now, this stance is also reflected on the club’s own website.

João Palhinha, Sacha Boey, Bryan Zaragoza, and Armindo Sieb are completely absent from the updated first-team roster—even though all four still have valid contracts with FC Bayern. While other returning players, such as Felipe Chávez, are at least listed on the roster without a jersey number, the quartet no longer appears at all.

In doing so, the Munich club is reinforcing its clear course of action in the transfer market. Eberl had already stated during Nathaniel Brown’s presentation: “We’ve communicated this very openly: with Sacha, Bryan, and João, we have three players whom we’re very open to letting go.”

The sporting director also made it clear what the players could expect if they chose to stay: “If one of them decides to stay here, it will be relatively tough and complicated for him because he simply won’t play a major role. Our roster is set as we’ve put it together—those three don’t fit into it.”

Ndiaye is also missing

Bara Sapoko Ndiaye is also not listed on the official roster. Unlike the quartet set for transfer, however, this is for purely formal reasons.

The permanent signing of the 18-year-old midfielder has not yet been fully finalized. Final contractual details still need to be worked out between FC Bayern and the Gambinos Stars. From a sporting perspective, however, the Munich club has long been planning to include the Senegalese national team player in their plans.

Ndiaye has already participated in the training camp at Tegernsee, even scored a goal in the 15-0 friendly victory over FC Rottach-Egern, and is currently part of the squad for the Audi Summer Tour in Asia. Max Eberl recently announced that the transfer “won’t take much longer.”

While Ndiaye is likely to appear on the Bayern website shortly after the transfer is officially finalized, the situation is completely different for Palhinha, Boey, Zaragoza, and Sieb. By removing them from the official first-team roster, the record champions have made it unmistakably clear that their future no longer lies in Munich.
