Several former Juventus executives sanctioned by the courts
A flood of sanctions hits Juventus
The case of fictitious capital gains and salary maneuvering carried out by Juventus between 2018 and 2021 has reached a new milestone. On Monday, the Rome court approved several plea bargain agreements proposed by the club's former executives. Andrea Agnelli, ex-president of the Old Lady, was handed a suspended sentence of one year and eight months, while his former right-hand man Pavel Nedved received one year and two months. Former sporting director Fabio Paratici and Cesare Gabasio, the club’s ex-chief legal officer, were both given one year and six months.
Other financial executives, such as Stefano Cerrato, Marco Re, and Stefano Bertola, saw their sentences converted into fines. The club itself must pay a financial penalty of €156,750. For the civil parties, nearly a third of the 221 plaintiffs will share compensation exceeding one million euros, largely funded by the executives who accepted the plea deal.
These sanctions are part of the Prisma case, which accuses Juventus of artificially inflating the value of certain transfers and concealing salary debts during the Covid-19 pandemic. The charges include market manipulation, false financial statements, and obstruction of supervisory bodies. While Maurizio Arrivabene, the club's former CEO, was acquitted, the rest of the executive team saw their responsibilities confirmed.
On the sporting front, Juventus had already suffered severe consequences, including a 10-point deduction in Serie A in 2023 and exclusion from European competitions. Today, this judicial chapter further damages the image of a weakened club, forced to settle its accounts before the courts. While executives argue that the plea was a "strategic" decision without any admission of guilt, the Old Lady's reputation remains tarnished, confirming one of the darkest episodes in its recent history.
