Following Leon Goretzka’s departure, Bayern Munich appears to be deliberately foregoing a high-profile replacement. Instead, club officials are relying on internal solutions—and Jamal Musiala could end up playing a surprising role in the future.

As things stand, FC Bayern will not sign another midfielder. Despite Leon Goretzka’s departure, club officials currently see no need to look for a replacement on the transfer market.

As reported by Sky, the only matter still under consideration is the planned permanent signing of Bayern prospect Bara Sapoko Ndiaye. Otherwise, the Munich club is relying entirely on its existing squad in central midfield.

Sky reporter Florian Plettenberg has now provided insight into the internal plans at Säbener Straße: “The current plan is to rely on Kimmich, Pavlovic, and Bischof.”

Should any of the regulars be sidelined, Bayern have several alternatives, according to Plettenberg: “And internally, they say: If someone is out, Laimer can play there, and Brown, the new signing, can play there at any time.”

However, the last option in the management’s contingency plans is particularly surprising. “And if necessary, we’ll pull Musiala and Karl back,” Plettenberg explained.

No transfer for Bayern’s front office?

Both Jamal Musiala and Lennart Karl are actually natural forwards. These statements underscore that Bayern have confidence in their current squad structure. After his strong first year, Tom Bischof is expected to take on significantly more responsibility and share the most playing time in the center alongside Joshua Kimmich and Aleksandar Pavlovic. Behind them, Konrad Laimer and new signing Nathaniel Brown are ready as flexible alternatives.

According to the report, another transfer for central midfield is not on the table—even though other media outlets have recently reported Bayern’s interest in PSG star Fabian Ruiz for precisely that position.

Instead, according to Sky, the Munich club is relying on the versatility of its roster—and, if necessary, even believes two attacking players are capable of filling a role in the center.
