Bryan Zaragoza is set to leave FC Bayern. The Spanish attacking midfielder apparently has no plans to see out his contract in Munich but instead wants to join a new club this summer. Ironically, an injury could significantly complicate those plans.

It has been no secret—at least since this week—that Zaragoza no longer has a future with the record champions. Sporting director Max Eberl recently stated publicly that the 23-year-old, along with João Palhinha and Sacha Boey, has no sporting prospects at FC Bayern.

Accordingly, both sides are working on a solution. Zaragoza himself is said to want to leave the club as soon as possible.

Zaragoza is looking for a club where he can get playing time

As reported by BILD , the Spaniard has no intention of “sitting out” his contract with FC Bayern, which runs through 2029. Instead, he is actively looking for a new club.

For Zaragoza, one aspect is paramount: He wants to join a club where he can get regular playing time and prove himself in the long term. After his difficult spell in Munich and the subsequent loan, the attacking player apparently no longer sees his future with the German record champions.

Interestingly, according to Sky, Zaragoza originally wanted to compete for the backup role behind Luis Diaz. However, that role is expected to go to homegrown player Arijon Ibrahimovic next season.

Knee inflammation complicates the transfer

Just now, however, Zaragoza is being held back by health issues. According to BILD, the Spaniard has been suffering from knee inflammation for some time, which is complicating his planned transfer.

According to the report, the injury has already deterred potential suitors. While clubs continue to monitor the situation, they are currently hesitating to take concrete steps until it is clear when Zaragoza will be fully fit again.

For FC Bayern, this development comes at an inopportune time. The Munich club is currently pushing ahead with several roster decisions and is hoping to generate revenue through player sales. While there have recently been reports of at least a few interested parties for João Palhinha and Sacha Boey, the sale of Zaragoza could now be further delayed.

However, once the attacking player has overcome his knee problems, interest in the Spanish international is likely to pick up again. Until then, both Zaragoza and FC Bayern must hope for a speedy recovery so that the planned transfer can still become a reality in the coming weeks.

Good news for Zaragoza: According to honorary president Uli Hoeneß, unlike at many other European clubs, no one is being forced out at the record-holding champions. The Munich club respects its contracts and players, Hoeneß recently emphasized when asked about Zaragoza and the other players facing potential release.
