Ouaddou set sights on PSL history

Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has set sights on making PSL history by clinching all four domestic trophies.

The Soweto giants have already lifted the MTN8 and the Carling Knockout Cup this season - their first League Cup since the 2011/12 campaign.

With the elusive Betway Premiership and the Nedbank Cup still on offer, the former Morocco international is targeting a clean sweep of trophies, which would see Pirates become the first team in PSL history to achieve the feat.

“I think it's not only for me because I'm not playing alone, but for all of us it's a very huge challenge. You [media] are just saying that maybe nobody did it. It's a sort of motivation to go and give everything in order to write the names of the players in the history of the club,” said Ouaddou.

"So, you have to be motivated, you have to challenge these things because football is going so quick. You think sometimes you have 10 years to play but even 10 years is going so quick, so in these 10 years or five years, six years that you can play football, try to be ambitious, try to leave your name in the club where you are playing.

"I'll just give you an example - in 2004 I was in the final of the AFCON. I think we had the strongest team in Africa, we were playing fantastic football in Tunisia, everybody was looking at us like the favourite team but at the end we didn't win the trophy. So, your name is not on the cup, Tunisia won that AFCON.

"So, I always say to my players, use the time that you are playing to be ambitious and leave your name as a legend. So, that's definitely a big challenge for us this season.

Pirates return to action with a Nedbank Cup Round of 32 clash against third-tier outfit Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday.
