Abel Ferreira enjoyed a light-hearted moment, scoring during Palmeiras’ final run-out before their 2026 Libertadores bow, then entertaining a mock VAR check for a possible offside.

Globo.com reports that he slid in to nudge the ball over the line, spread his arms in celebration, then heard a whistle for offside amid laughter from the squad.

On the touchline, staff replayed the clip on a laptop and teased their coach about straying beyond the last defender. Abel responded by signalling that he had timed his run.

In a club video, left-back Arthur joked that he had been under the bar and that the VAR had shown offside. Centre-back Bruno Fuchs countered that the review concluded the goal stood.

The session took place on Tuesday afternoon before Palmeiras face Junior Barranquilla at 21:30, Brasília time, at the Estádio Olímpico Jaime Morón León in Cartagena, Colombia.
