According to BuLi News, former Bundesliga striker Dickson Abiyama has joined Rot-Weiss Essen on a permanent deal from Kaiserslautern.
He delivered six goals and four assists in only 14 3. Liga appearances during the second half of the season.
Essen missed out on promotion to the 2. Bundesliga after a narrow play-off defeat to Abiyama’s former club Greuther Fürth.
The Nigerian has signed a two-year contract, with the club holding an option to extend for a third season.
Abiyama helped Fürth secure Bundesliga promotion in 2021, but he did not score in 24 top-flight games as the Bavarians were relegated immediately. He was also scoreless in 30 appearances for Kaiserslautern, though he impressed in 3. Liga while on loan at 1860 Munich and Essen.
