AC Milan have identified Manchester United defender Noussair Mazraoui as a key transfer target, according to Italian journalist Daniele Longo.

The Serie A club have made initial contact over a possible deal for the versatile Moroccan international.

Mazraoui joined United from Bayern Munich in 2024 and has been a key part of the club’s backline since then.

His versatility has allowed him to feature at right-back, left-back, wing-back and even in central defence, making him one of United’s most useful players.

Since arriving at Old Trafford, the 28-year-old has made 77 appearances and contributed three assists.

His performances and tactical flexibility have come in handy for United several times, so the club are not actively looking to cash in this summer.

However, Milan have made the Moroccan their first-choice target, although they’re yet to formalise their interest with an official proposal.

New Milan manager Ruben Amorim is reportedly driving the move for Mazraoui.

The Portuguese manager wants to reunite with Mazraoui at San Siro Stadium, having worked with him during a short-lived spell at United.

Mazraoui’s ability to operate on both sides of the defence also makes him an attractive option.

Milan could benefit from a player capable of covering multiple positions, especially as the Serie A giants sweat over the future of left-back Pervis Estupinan.

The Ecuadorian defender has been linked with a return to the Premier League after attracting strong interest from Europa League winners Aston Villa.

If the Villans act on their interest, Milan could be short-staffed in the full-back roles, so bringing in Mazraoui could be a shrewd move.

Mazraoui has two years left on his contract, and the Premier League giants have shown no desire to part ways with him this summer.
