Niclas Füllkrug has sustained a broken toe, the AC Milan loanee facing a spell out and not expected back before late January. He suffered the injury during Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Fiorentina.
Gazzetta suggests he will miss Thursday’s trip to Como and the meeting with Lecce three days later, with the most optimistic scenario being availability on 25 January for Roma v AC Milan. The medical staff confirmed on Tuesday that he is unavailable and did not set a return date.
The 32-year-old joined on loan from West Ham at the start of the year. He featured for 21 minutes at Cagliari, a 1-0 win, then 25 minutes against Genoa at San Siro, before starting against Fiorentina. He came off on the hour.
The setback is unwelcome for the Lombardy side, with other strikers in precarious condition.
It also continues a difficult run for Füllkrug, who has dealt with Achilles, hamstring and calf problems over the past year and a half.
