Adam Idah: We stuck to the plan and got the job done

The Celts are in to the semi-final of the Scottish League Cup after defeating Falkirk 5-2 at Celtic Park today (Sunday).

Despite the resounding scoreline, the match looked to be going the way of the visitors who led 2-1 at half-time, but thanks to four second half goals, including a brace from Adam Idah, Brendan Rodgers’ side managed to see off John McGlynn’s men and book their spot at Hampden.

Speaking to Celtic TV after the match, Idah admitted that Falkirk proved to be worthy opponents, but praised the second half display from the Celts.

“It was tough,” he said. “We were on such a high after Wednesday’s game and to come back again today, it’s always difficult to win those games, especially when the squad is changed.

“We haven’t played many games together but know the plan. We weren’t at our best in the first half, but we got the job done.

“We came together at half time and spoke about what we needed to do and what we were doing wrong.

“It’s what the best teams do. We stuck to the plan and we’re in to the next round."

After scoring against Slovan Bratislava in the Champions League during the week, Idah added to his goal tally for the season so far with his two second half strikes today. With the striker in good form at present, he added: “I think the goal against Hearts, although it was offside, was a big step in getting my confidence back. “I’m happy with the two goals today and we just need to keep getting better in our performances.”
