Although his name has been mentioned with varying degrees of frequency as a potential successor to Igor Tudor at Tottenham Hotspur, former AS Monaco manager Adi Hütter has reiterated his desire not to take up a managerial role before the end of the season.
“Over the past few days and weeks, my name has been linked with various clubs with increasing frequency. However, as I made clear at the end of my time at Monaco, I would prefer not to take up a head coaching role until the start of the new season at the earliest,” the 56-year-old manager explained in a statement.
A crystal-clear statement from Hütter, who presumably wants to get involved in a fledgling project and help build it up. Even if it means waiting for the right opportunity to come along.
Having been released by Monaco at the start of October 2025, after nearly two and a half years with the club, the Austrian does not seem to be in any hurry to return to the pitch.
Taking the reins at Spurs today, with the London club teetering on the brink of the relegation zone and having already gone through two managers since the start of the season, could well prove to be a poisoned chalice for Hütter, whose time on Le Rocher came to a difficult end.
