AFA draws 2026 Apertura and Clausura groups amid Sur Finanzas scandal

The Argentine Football Association has conducted the draw for the 2026 Apertura and Clausura groups, keeping the same format as this year. According to SuperDepor.com, the draw was held amid a scandal involving Sur Finanzas, a company accused of money laundering and embezzlement.
Both tournaments will feature 16 regular season rounds. Each team will face the other 14 sides in its zone, plus one interzonal fixture and its clásico.
The top eight from each zone will progress to the play-offs, which will be straight knockout to decide the champion.
Zone A comprises Boca, Independiente, San Lorenzo, Deportivo Riesta, Talleres de Córdoba, Instituto de Córdoba, Platense, Vélez, Estudiantes de La Plaza, Gimnasia de Mendoza, Lanús, Newell´s, Defensa y Justicia, Central Córdoba de Santiago del Estero and Unión de Santa Fe.
Zone B features River, Racing, Huracán, Barracas Central, Belgrano de Córdoba, Estudiantes de Río Cuarto, Argentinos Juniors, Tigre, Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata, Independiente Rivadavia de Mendoza, Banfield, Rosario Central, Aldosivi de Mar del Plata, Atlético Tucumán and Sarmiento de Junín.
Interzonal pairings include Vélez v River and Racing v Boca.
