Agent demands R$3.7m from Corinthians, club already paid R$11m

Businessman Fernando Garcia has filed a lawsuit against Corinthians, demanding R$ 3.7 million, according to information from UOL Esporte. The amount refers to a commission the agent did not receive from the transfer of attacking midfielder Pedro to Zenit, Russia, which took place in 2023, during the administration of then-president Augusto Melo.

In August 2024, still under Augusto’s management, Corinthians discreetly negotiated 30% of the economic rights it had retained for the player with Zenit itself. Part of the amount obtained from this transaction was used to settle a debt of approximately R$ 11 million, related to loans made by Fernando Garcia to the club.

The R$ 3.7 million now being claimed is an additional amount, separate from the R$ 11 million already paid.

In a statement to UOL Esporte, the businessman’s lawyer, Filipe Rino, said that his client was very reluctant before taking legal action against Corinthians and did not wish to bring the case to court. According to the representative, the possibility of an amicable agreement remains open.

Corinthians, in turn, has not yet been officially cited or notified about the claim. The club faces various financial issues and lawsuits related to previous administrations. On Wednesday, the court approved the Centralized Execution Regime, which will consolidate the payment of debts estimated at around R$ 450 million into a single plan.

So far, the claim made by Fernando Garcia is not included in this plan.
