Valencia’s goalkeeping plans for January may shift after Julen Agirrezabala went off injured during the painful defeat at Balaídos, potentially affecting Stole Dimitrievski’s exit.
Pepelu briefly pulled on the gloves as Agirrezabala left the pitch. According to AS, Corberán said after the match it could be a significant injury, with tests due tomorrow and initial checks suggesting he could have a hamstring tear.
If that diagnosis is confirmed, Dimitrievski’s situation could change drastically. The Macedonian had decided to leave this window after accepting he could not win the starting spot.
His representatives have already fielded offers from Brugge, Bournemouth and Genoa, among other European clubs, for an immediate move.
If Dimitrievski departs and Agirrezabala is sidelined, Valencia would be left with Cristian Rivero, who is not in Corberán’s plans, even for the Copa del Rey. That reality could see the club block an exit just as an appealing pathway emerged, particularly after his recent national-team comments.
