ChatGPT has outlined what division all EFL Championship clubs deserve to be playing in

Among the EFL Championship’s 24 clubs, certain teams may feel like they really belong to a different division.

A number of second-tier sides have spent multiple years in the top-flight recently, even winning the competition and will feel like they deserve to return there in due course.

Whereas other outfits may be quite satisfied with their Championship status, having spent much of their modern history in the lower regions of the EFL.

With this in mind, Football League World has employed AI Chatbot, ChatGPT, to name what division it thinks all 24 EFL Championship clubs really belong in.

Birmingham City – Championship

Despite owner Tom Wagner’s Premier League ambitions, ChatGPT believes that Birmingham deserves to retain their Championship status.

The AI describes Blues’ history of underperforming as a reason why they shouldn’t be operating out of the top-flight.

Blackburn Rovers – League Two

Quite surprising given their Premier League triumph in 1995, ChatGPT thinks that Blackburn Rovers should be operating out of the fourth-tier.

Their inability to pack out Ewood Park and underperformance in recent years led the AI to believe that they will slip down the divisions over time.

Bristol City – Championship

Bristol City’s location, fanbase and stadium all make them a perfectly adequate Championship team according to ChatGPT.

These resources will allow them to sustain their second-tier status for the long term, as per the chatbot, which can’t be for all other teams in the division.

Charlton Athletic – League One

Despite Charlton Athletic’s recent promotion to the Championship, ChatGPT doesn’t believe that they should be in the second-tier on a permanent basis.

The chatbot lists their infrastructure and fanbase as being too small when compared to other Championship outfits.

Coventry City – Championship

The AI admitted that Coventry City are right on the cusp of potentially becoming a Premier League team, but don’t have quite enough right now to be deserving of that status.

Although the Sky Blues have strong ambition, it is yet to be seen whether they have the adequate revenue streams to maintain a place in the top-flight.

Derby County – League One

ChatGPT describes Derby as a historically large club but haven’t been able to back that up in recent times.

Because of their recent financial woes and visit to League One, the chatbot believes that status is best fitting for the Rams.

Hull City – Championship

Hull City are described as a solid Championship outfit by ChatGPT, whose stadium and fanbase mean that they deserve to be a second-tier club.

Premier League ambitions have materialised in the past, but the AI doesn’t think that the Tigers have operated out of the top-flight enough.

Ipswich Town – Premier League

Ipswich Town’s recent trajectory means that they deserve a place in the Premier League according to the AI, despite suffering relegation last term.

High attendances and strong performances in the transfer market in the past few years mean they have everything to succeed in the top-flight, as per ChatGPT.

Leicester City – Premier League

The 2016 Premier League champions have been relegated in their last two top-flight campaigns, but the chatbot believes they still deserve to be operating out of English football’s highest division.

Their recent achievements and infrastructure make the Foxes “overqualified” for the second-tier in ChatGPT’s eyes, and a return to the Premier League should soon be on the cards.

Middlesbrough – Championship

Like Coventry City, Middlesbrough are described as a team that is close to being deserving of Premier League status.

However, their lack of financial might when compared to other sides in the division holds them back as per the AI.
