Ajax agree loan for Wolves striker Tolu Arokodare with option to buy | OneFootball

Tolu Arokodare, 25, is poised to leave Wolves after Ajax agreed a season-long loan that includes an option to buy for around £17 million.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, Ajax will cover his full wages for the 2026/27 campaign and have paid a £1 million loan fee, with further bonuses linked to European qualification. Wolves signed him for nearly £24 million last summer.

The striker was deemed surplus to requirements, and both club and player had worked on an exit all summer. He was initially left out of the pre-season training camp in Portugal.

He was later flown in for one session to cover Adam Armstrong’s calf injury, but he did not feature in the behind-closed-doors friendly with Estoril and watched from the stands.

After the squad returned to Compton, a training session was cancelled when Arokodare refused to leave the first-team group, with extra security drafted in to avoid a repeat.

He was not banned from the training ground, but he was left out of the friendlies against Maidenhead and Real Sociedad. He then used social media to challenge “inaccurate” media reports, without specifying which details or denying the incident.

Fiorentina and Trabzonspor had earlier bids rejected. Trabzonspor later had an offer accepted, which Arokodare turned down as he preferred Italy, and he has now agreed to join Ajax.
