Raheem Stirling is set to join Feyenoord in a bit of a coup for the Eredivisie. The former Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea winger left the Premier League after his contract was terminated and has been convinced by Robin van Persie to join him in Rotterdam. De Telegraaf has reported that Feyenoord were not the only Eredivisie side interested in Sterling. Ajax were also said to be one of the sides keen on the former England international, but it was Feyenoord who moved quicker to seal the deal.
The 31-year-old Sterling hadn’t made a single appearance for Chelsea this season. Last season Sterling was loaned out to Arsenal, where he struggled to have a real impact. On his return, it was clear that Chelsea were keen to move Sterling but could not find a buyer. However, with his contract terminated, Sterling was able to find a new club. It has been widely reported that 18 teams were interested in him, but after a conversation with van Persie, Sterling was convinced to move to the Eredivisie. The side are chasing a top two finish and could certainly do with the players experience.
