Manchester City will clash heads with Huddersfield Town at the Accu Stadium this Wednesday night as they hope to secure a victory on their travels in the EFL Cup. The Mancunian outfit were held to a 1-1 draw away at Arsenal recently, so they would be keen on returning to winning ways in this cup game.

Pep Guardiola will probably set his players up in a 4-1-4-1 formation and is expected to make a lot of changes to his starting XI. Nathan Ake, John Stones and Oscar Bobb could all play from the start of this game.

Defence

James Trafford will play in between the sticks for the Mancunian outfit as he looks to keep a clean sheet on the road in midweek. John Stones will operate alongside Nathan Ake at the centre of Guardiola’s defence as they look to keep the opposition at bay during the game.

Matheus Nunes could fill in as the left-back, while Abdukodir Khusanov looks to impress on the other side as the right-back. Both of them will be allowed to go forward and express themselves in the final third.

Ruben Dias will offer cover for the centre-back positions on the bench.

Midfield

Rico Lewis could function as the holding midfielder for Man City, while both Divin Mukasa and Nico Gonzalez play just ahead of them as the box-to-box midfielders. All three of them need to move the ball well at the centre of the park if Man City want to secure a comfortable win this Wednesday night.

Savinho will try to make a difference as the left-winger, while Oscar Bobb looks to give a good account of himself on the right flank. Guardiola will instruct them to get in behind the Huddersfield backline at every chance they get.

Bernardo Silva and Rodri will make up the numbers on the bench.

Attack

Phil Foden will lead the line for Man City in the final third. He would be eager to find the back of the net after failing to score against Arsenal recently.

Erling Haaland will get a well-deserved rest on the bench and might come on to make an impact in the latter stages of the game if needed.
