Al Ahli’s Matheus Gonçalves wins Rio title in Flamengo shirt | OneFootball

Al Ahli midfielder Matheus Gonçalves won a grassroots title in Rio de Janeiro on Sunday.

According to Coluna Do Fla, he has been entering local amateur tournaments during his holiday and lifted the Arena CPX trophy with a side wearing Flamengo colours.

Before that success, he fell short with Equipe M, turning out in green, as his team went out in the semi-finals after Wallace Yan missed one of the penalties.

A standout in Flamengo’s academy in recent seasons, he struggled for senior minutes and moved between youth and first team.

He accepted Al Ahli’s offer in August 2025, the Saudi club paying about eight million euros, R$ 50 million at the time. Last season he won the AFC Champions League, and his deal runs until June 2027.
