Al Hilal omit Darwin Núñez from Saudi League squad after Karim Benzema arrival | OneFootball

Al Hilal have omitted Darwin Núñez from their Saudi League squad following the signing of Karim Benzema, with fellow import Pablo Marí also left out.

According to Coluna Do Fla, the club faced a limit on foreign registrations for league fixtures, and Benzema’s arrival from Al Ittihad prompted the decision.

As a result, Núñez and Marí can feature only in the Asian Champions League. Al Hilal lead the West group with six wins and one draw from seven matches.

Flamengo are searching for a striker to compete with Pedro. Núñez is not prepared to accept a salary below his current Al Hilal deal, so the Rio side have not opened negotiations.

Marí previously played for Flamengo in 2019, lifting the Brazilian title and the Libertadores. He left in 2020 to join Arsenal.
