Manchester United are close to securing Bryan Mbeumo’s signature to add to Matheus Cunha’s acquisition. Ruben Amorim still needs a ruthless striker, and for that player sales will be required.
And as the head coach’s system does not employ the use of out-and-out wingers, Marcus Rashford, Antony, and Jadon Sancho are all expected to be sold first.
Surprisingly, despite playing 40 times under the Portuguese tactician, Alejandro Garnacho is not expected to remain at Old Trafford after falling out with Amorim.
The latest infraction was the third such incident involving the two, with the first coming before the Manchester derby, and the second after the league game against Ipswich Town.
The 40-year-old had mended things with the Argentine, but his outburst after the Europa League final seemed to be the final straw, after which he explicitly instructed the forward to find a new club in the summer.
Three Premier League clubs are reportedly interested, while there is interest from Saudi Arabia, with The Mirror revealing Al-Nassr are chasing his signature.
The Saudi Pro League side are looking for a replacement for Sadio Mane, and had initially earmarked Liverpool’s Luis Diaz as the perfect replacement.
But with the Merseyside outfit keen to retain the Colombian, Al-Nassr have shifted their focus to the Argentina international.
The Red Devils will demand at least £50 million for the 20-year-old and the Saudi side will have no problem in paying the Red Devils and agreeing to Garnacho’s wage demands.
Not to forget the Cristiano Ronaldo factor. Alejandro Garnacho is a huge fan of the United legend and has made no secret of is admiration for the Portugal international.
Reuniting with his idol would certainly be a huge draw for the Carrington graduate. But whether he leaves Europe at this stage of his career to chase the money, remains to be seen.
“Manchester United misfit Alejandro Garnacho could be offered an escape route from Old Trafford by Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr.
“The Argentine is being discussed as an alternative target to Liverpool winger Luis Diaz after the Premier League champions made it clear that the Colombian is still part of Arne Slot ’s plans when they were sounded out by Barcelona about their intentions for the 28-year-old.
“Al-Nassr have told former Kop favourite Sadio Mane that he can leave the club this summer – and want a top-class replacement. Handing United their asking price will not be a problem for Al-Nassr – and the prospect of playing alongside Ronaldo would be a huge draw for Garnacho.”
There is interest from Italy as well, and it will be interesting to see where he ultimately lands up. INEOS would prefer not to strengthen a direct rival.
