And the news will no doubt be met with widespread concern on the part of those of a Blaugrana persuasion.
Midfielder Pedri for his part set alarm bells sounding across Catalunya’s capital earlier this evening.
As much came after the Spanish international was forced into a premature departure from Barcelona’s Champions League meeting with Slavia Praha.
En route to a 4-2 triumph for his teammates, Pedri pulled up just shy of the hour mark, clutching his hamstring.
Hauled off immediately after, the 23-year-old looked in serious distress as he passed manager Hansi Flick on the touchline.
And as alluded to above, if the early signs are anything to go by, then Pedri’s worries do not appear to be at all unfounded.
As per a report from Barca insider Javier Miguel of Diario AS:
‘The initial impressions are not good, already suggesting a possible tear.’
In the case of as much, the engine room standout would be expected to miss a minimum of three to four weeks of action.
