According to AS, Alavés want to take Gorka Carrera on loan to bolster their attack, with efforts to keep Ibrahim Diabate complicated by GAIS demanding more than two million euros for 80% of his rights and rival LaLiga interest.

Toni Martínez and Lucas Boyé remain first-choice up front, while youngster Aitor Mañas will step up from the B team this summer. The addition of Carrera would add depth in the final third.

The 21-year-old, 1.78 metres tall, excelled in Segunda with Real Sociedad B, scoring 15 goals and serving as Ion Ansotegi’s main attacking outlet. His form earned first-team involvement under Sergio Francisco and Pellegrino Matarazzo, plus four LaLiga outings and one Copa del Rey appearance, making him part of the most recent title-winning squad.

In San Sebastián he faces heavy competition from Mikel Oyarzabal, Oskarsson, Guedes and Kubo, and the club were also looking to strengthen that role this window. Carrera’s profile differs, a reference centre-forward, lethal in the box with a sharp instinct, which placed him seventh in the Segunda Pichichi standings.

Mariano Díaz has the door open to leave Alavés. He arrived last pre-season and, after a trial, Coudet approved his stay. He barely featured in the league but did play in the Copa del Rey.

Before the Sevilla tie he was not given a starting bib in training, so he left the session. Coudet then froze him out and, although Quique Sánchez Flores later tried to reintegrate him, he hardly featured. Sporting director Sergio Fernández has defended him, but he is on the exit ramp with one year left on his contract.
