Albion’s Second Tier Season Comparison – 33 games

Imagen del artículo:Albion’s Second Tier Season Comparison – 33 games

Few will have expected anything other than a defeat against league leaders, Coventry City, but it extends Eric Ramsay’s winless start as Albion boss to eight games, matching the disastrous start to Alan Pardew’s reign in 2017/18. Only Bryan Robson, who didn’t record a victory until his eleventh match in charge, has had a poorer start in charge of the Baggies, albeit he did ultimately guide the club to the Great Escape that season.

Only once before has an Albion side had fewer points at this stage of a second tier season – in 2000, Brian Little’s team had only 33 points and he would be sacked after another defeat, 3-0 at home to Birmingham City, in game 34. Bobby Gould’s team had 35 points in 1991 while in 1996, Alan Buckley’s team had 36 points but were in the bottom three after 33 games.

Tuesday’s match at home to Charlton Athletic looks to be a must-win game for Eric Ramsay else Shilen Patel could be looking to make his fourth head coach appointment of his short stewardship of the club.
