Álex Remiro, under contract at Real Sociedad until 2027, is weighing a new chapter after establishing himself among LaLiga’s most reliable goalkeepers. A summer move within Spain is possible, with major interest emerging.
Mundo Deportivo reports that Barcelona continue to consider the Cascante-born keeper among their goalkeeping options for the future. Joan Garcia and Wojciech Szczesny are also under evaluation for the position.
Barcelona have made no formal move, but there has been contact and monitoring of a profile seen as ready to provide immediate guarantees and strong competition. Any progress would hinge on finances and talks with Real Sociedad.
Real Sociedad remain calm. The club understand Remiro’s position and will consider proposals in the coming weeks, but have no intention of a rushed sale or accepting below value. A further season in San Sebastián is not ruled out.
His final outing of the campaign was the 3-4 defeat to Valencia at the Reale Arena in the penultimate round, a game that could yet carry added meaning.
Napoli are also following him and studying ways to land the Navarrese goalkeeper. A goalkeeper swap is among the ideas, but Alex Meret’s reluctance to join La Real complicates talks.
New head coach Pellegrino Matarazzo has proposed a German goalkeeper if Remiro departs, while Unai Marrero’s continuity appears fully assured. Assessed options include Noah Atubolu, Florian Müller, Finn Dahmen, Bernd Leno, Stefan Ortega, Steven Benda and Oliver Baumann.
The coming weeks should define one of Spain’s most watched goalkeeping sagas. Barcelona remain attentive, Napoli keep their route open and Real Sociedad wait without urgency, while Remiro holidays before deciding on his next step.
