On Thursday 15 January, OL Lyonnes confirmed Alice Sombath has extended her contract by one year to 2027.

The France defender, 22 and capped 11 times, wore the armband as OL Lyonnes beat Lens 1-0 at the Groupama OL Training Center on Wednesday.

Her reading and anticipation underpinned an eighth successive clean sheet, with Lily Yohannes scoring the only goal. Coach Jonatan Giráldez praised her composure and dominance in and out of possession, while noting his forwards’ lack of cutting edge.

Sombath has made 92 appearances for the club. She joined the Rhône side at 16 from PSG and characterises herself as a demanding captain in line with her team-mates.

Before this extension she was among four players set to be out of contract in June 2026. Now only the future of number two goalkeeper Teagan Micah, 28, remains unresolved. In recent days OL Lyonnes also confirmed Lindsey Heaps, 31, had left for Denver and renewed midfielder Inès Benyahia, 22, to 2028.
