Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker is now expected to remain at Anfield this summer despite interest from Juventus, according to Sky Sports.

The Italian side had identified the Liverpool shot-stopper as their leading target as they look to reshape their squad ahead of next season, and he was tempted to leave.

Alisson’s future with the Reds had become a talking point after another campaign disrupted by injuries.

Liverpool were also preparing for life beyond their long-serving No. 1 by signing highly-rated Georgian goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili.

However, the latest indications suggest the Reds are not prepared to sanction a move for the 33-year-old.

The Brazilian international remains one of the most respected goalkeepers in world football despite concerns over his recent decline.

Liverpool gaffer Arne Slot is likely to value Alisson’s experience, leadership and composure, particularly during what could be another transitional season at Anfield.

The Italians can pick up the unbelievable goalie when his contract at Liverpool expires at the end of the season.

But for now, he remains hugely influential within the dressing room, with club officials wary of removing another senior figure from the squad during a period of uncertainty.

Liverpool are making the sensible decision here.

While Mamardashvili is an exciting talent with enormous potential, he has endured a slow start to life in red.

Alisson may no longer be quite at the extraordinary level that once made him arguably the best goalkeeper on the planet.

However, he is still comfortably good enough to start for a club with Liverpool’s ambitions if he can stay fit.

More importantly, the Reds already have enough issues to resolve elsewhere in the squad.

Questions remain in defence, midfield balance still needs refining, and the attack could yet undergo changes this summer with Mohamed Salah leaving.

Adding uncertainty in goal on top of all that would be unnecessary risk. Stability matters, and keeping Alisson gives Liverpool exactly that.
