Ranking the teams competing in League Two next season by the market value of their first team squads

Salford City, Grimsby Town and Chesterfield were among the clubs to narrowly miss out on promotion from League Two in 2025/26.

The trio will all be looking to go one step further next year after losing in the play-offs, but they will be joined by Port Vale, Rotherham United, Exeter City and Northampton Town in the division after the quarter suffered relegation.

Rochdale and York City have also earned their place in the league after they won promotion from the National League, and it could now be quite a competitive season ahead.

Here we rank the teams in League Two from 24-1 based on their current squad value (all figures taken from Transfermarkt).

Rochdale earned promotion from the National League in dramatic fashion, beating Scunthorpe in the final after coming second in the table.

Their squad value going into the summer is just roughly £43,000, putting them bottom of the League Two table for squad value.

York City gained promotion from the National League with a 1-1 draw away to Rochdale on the final day of the season, with the team winning the title in the process.

But their squad is valued at just £108,000, with the transfer market set to open later this month.

Shrewsbury Town came 19th in the table last season, so will be hoping for better things in 2026/27, with a current squad value of around £2.1 million.

Their most valuable player is Sam Stubbs, with a current value of around £260,000.
