Allan has praised André Luiz’s potential after Corinthians rejected a Milan bid, while stressing the decision over any move rests with the club and the player.
According to Meu Timao, the offer was turned down as it did not meet the board’s valuation.
Allan said he understands clubs need to sell, yet he believes André Luiz is worth more than recent exports in his position and wants him to remain to help the team this season. He added that the squad will back the youngster to improve and that he is sure André Luiz will become a top player.
Milan’s proposal was €15 million guaranteed plus €2 million in add-ons for 70% of the midfielder’s economic rights held by Corinthians, with the proposal including the player waiving the remaining percentage. The club believe a future sale could fetch a higher fee.
Allan knows the pitfalls of moving early. Liverpool signed him in 2015 when he was 18 for about £500,000, roughly R$2.4 million at the time, but work-permit issues meant a string of loans. He only settled after returning to Brazil in 2019 with Fluminense.
With Allan and André Luiz available to Dorival Júnior, Corinthians face Santos at Vila Belmiro on Sunday at 16:00 in the sixth round of the Campeonato Brasileiro.
