Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri insists he was not the one who convinced Mike Maignan to stay at San Siro despite an offer from Chelsea: ‘Credit goes to Claudio Filippi and the club.’
Maignan was one of the Milan heroes last night as the Rossoneri secured a 1-0 win over Roma at San Siro.

The French keeper saved a Paulo Dybala penalty kick in the dying minutes, allowing the Serie A giants to catch the Giallorossi and Inter in second place with 21 points.
Maignan had attracted interest from Chelsea in the summer transfer window, but the Blues failed to match Milan’s asking price.
It had been reported that Allegri also contributed to Maignan’s stay by convincing him not to leave the club.

The Milan coach, however, denied that last night: “It absolutely wasn’t me,” Allegri said at a press conference on Sunday, via Milan News.
“The credit goes to Claudio Filippi, who is one of the best goalkeeping coaches around. And also to the club, which was very determined to keep him.”
Maignan’s Milan future remains uncertain, given that his contract expires in June 2026.
The France international has kept six clean sheets in 11 games across all competitions this season, conceding just seven goals.
