Allianz Parque has been certified by FIFA following inspection of its new synthetic surface, clearing Palmeiras to return home on Sunday against Mirassol in the Campeonato Brasileiro.

According to Globo.com, an accredited laboratory ran tests on the pitch last week for nearly seven hours, and the surface now holds FIFA Quality Pro certification.

The squad trained on the new field on Tuesday morning for the first time since the change. Flaco López said the return felt special, praised the surface and its natural-like colour, and felt it would be positive for their games.

Palmeiras and stadium operator WTorre invested R$ 11 million in the replacement. The seventh-generation turf was swapped between late last year and early 2026 after the previous surface naturally lost some memory, the ability for fibres to spring back after weight.

Contractor Soccer Grass removed the cork and sand infill, lifted the old grass and opened drainage branches, then cleaned the base, levelled and compacted the gravel, rolled out the shock pad, laid new carpets and distributed fresh sand and cork, before marking out the field and related fittings. The drainage system was also updated.
