As Alphonso Davies’ contract with Bayern Munich runs out at the end of the season, it is natural for speculative rumors and reports to be making the rounds in the football world. Real Madrid's interest in the left-back was well-known but recently there were reports floating around stating that the Spanish club has reached an agreement with the player over a summer transfer next season.

The reports of Davies agreeing a free transfer to Real Madrid prompted his agent, Nedal Huoseh, to make a statement explicitly denying these reports. Househ poured cold water on the speculation in a statement released through transfers journalist Fabrizio Romano —

"“Done deal with Real Madrid? This is not true. Though the player has many options, we have not agreed terms with any club”."- Nedal Huoseh

This, at least for the moment, shuts down all the rumors regarding a transfer agreement between Davies and the record Spanish champions. Alphonso Davies indeed has several options on the table as it's not just Madrid who are trying to acquire his services.

Another team recently reported to have joined the race for the left-back’s signature was Real Madrid’s fierce rivals FC Barcelona. The Catalonian club is also eyeing a potential move for Davies and reuniting the left-back with his former coach Hansi Flick. There is also an interest from Premier League giants Manchester United, who want to sign the 24-year-old for free next season.

Contract extension at Bayern Munich is still possible

Nedal Huoseh further clarifies to Fabrizio Romano that a new deal at Bayern Munich remains an option for Davies.

While contract extension talks between FC Bayern and Alphonso Davies have been at an impasse for a long period of time, nothing has been categorically ruled out as of now.

The major sticking point in the negotiations between Davies and the Rekordmeister has been the subject of wages. The Canadian can still imagine signing an extension if Bayern can meet the salary demands put forth by his camp. Meanwhile, from the club’s point of view, sporting director Christoph Freund had expressed interest in renewing Davies’ contract and keeping him at Bayern beyond this season.

The full-back has been in electric form this season and has expressed that he is enjoying the football under new coach Vincent Kompany. The Canadian has refrained from talking about his contract situation and simply stated that his full focus is on winning games with Bayern. It is still to be seen if this mutual appreciation between the club and the player would result in a contract extension. If not, the player will be free to hold talks with interested clubs from January 2025.

Meanwhile, Bayern have more work cut out in front of them as they need to sort out the futures of Leroy Sané and Joshua Kimmich as both players will be out of contract at the end of the season.
