Real Madrid coach Alvaro Arbeloa declined on Sunday to set a timescale for Kylian Mbappé’s return from a left knee issue, stressing the forward will only feature when he is fully recovered.
According to L'Équipe, Arbeloa said Mbappé must be pain free, confident and in the safest possible condition before playing again.
He added that the situation would be assessed day by day and that it was better not to impose a deadline, with any decision to depend on how the player feels.
A comeback for the Champions League last-16 second leg against Manchester City on 17 March had been floated, but Arbeloa avoided committing to that, reiterating that Mbappé will return only when ready.
The France captain is expected to be rested for at least 10 days to recover properly, after a rushed comeback in early January, 11 days after the Spanish club announced the injury.
