The Brazilian youngster Endrick made his first start in a Real Madrid shirt last night as the Merengues visited France to take on LOSC Lille in the UEFA Champions League. Although this was a memorable occasion for the striker personally, this was a rather forgettable night for the white team in general.

Los Blancos saw their 36-game unbeaten run come to an end in this game as Lille emerged as 1-0 winners. Jonathan David scored the only goal of the game, from a penalty given away by Camavinga at the end of the first half.

Endrick himself had some chances to get on the scoresheet but was unable to take advantage of these opportunities and came out of the game empty-handed. As MARCA has reported, he also talked to Movistar after the game, and showed his happiness on making his first start in a Real Madrid shirt:

“It’s an incredible feeling. I’m at the best club in the world, and starting a game is very difficult. Playing as a starter is very important, and I’m really happy about that. Now, my focus is on the next match. We’ll train and go win against Villarreal.”

Despite his happiness with the start, Endrick also shared his sorrow on the loss that his side had to endure:

“Very happy to have started the match, but not so much because of the loss. Our focus is now on the next game, which is against Villarreal, and we’re concentrating on the upcoming training session. The season is long, and I hope we can win the next match.”

The Brazilian also highlighted how difficult the game was, but at the same time, he was already looking forward to the next game:

“It was a very difficult match, like all matches. Lille played well, and so did we, but it was tough. We lost the game, but our focus is already on the next one.”

Endrick failed to take much advantage of this good opportunity last night. With Mbappe’s return, his chances of starting another game soon are rather slim. But he will still continue to get minutes on the pitch and hopefully will be able to take more advantage of the opportuinties that Carlo hands him in the future.
