Benfica goalkeeper Anatoliy Trubin has admitted he needs to work and improve after Ukraine failed to reach the 2026 World Cup. He voiced disappointment at missing out on the tournament.

The elimination came six days after defeat to Sweden ended Ukraine’s bid. The player said in an Instagram post that the game did not go as he expected, calling it a painful lesson and stressing the need to work harder to earn future call-ups.

He values representing Ukraine and is grateful for the trust placed in him. The setback has prompted closer self-analysis and higher personal standards.

Trubin also pointed to a young, talented group ready to seize chances, take responsibility and fight for the national team. He noted lessons had been learned, thanked supporters and has returned to Benfica duties.

This season with Benfica, Trubin has 42 appearances, 25 in the Portuguese league, 14 in the Champions League, two in the Portuguese Cup, one in the League Cup and one in the Super Cup. Across 3,825 minutes he has conceded 35 goals, and he is valued at €25 million.
