Not more than 12 hours ago, it was almost given that Carlo Ancelotti would join Brazil this summer.

However, reports this morning suggest Ancelotti’s proposed move to Brazil has broken down in a surprise turn of events.

Brazil move ruled out for Ancelotti

According to Globo Esporte, the Brazilian football federation has ended negotiations with Ancelotti in the wake of an intervention from Real Madrid.

The report adds that Real Madrid’s board of directors played hardball during Ancelotti’s negotiations with Brazil. They notably refused to pay the termination fee in the Italian’s contract, which doesn’t expire until 2026.

Ancelotti is likely to leave Real Madrid at the end of the season, one year prior to the expiry of his contract.

Because of this reason, the Italian wanted Real Madrid to pay the termination fee as the club were not respecting the terms of the contract.

However, upon learning that CBF has an agreement in place with Ancelotti, Florentino Perez and team decided against paying a termination fee.

This means any agreement between the CBF and Ancelotti cannot be made now, which doesn’t bode well for Brazil as they would require a new coach as soon as possible.

As a result, it appears Jorge Jesus is all set to become the next Brazil coach. The Portuguese tactician is currently on the verge of leaving Al Hilal.

Jesus was always an option for Brazil but the federation had prioritised a move for Ancelotti due to his vast experience and a track record of winning big tournaments.

But with the Brazil move ruled out, it will be interesting to see what the future has in store for the experienced Italian.
