Nottingham Forest face a pivotal summer as Elliot Anderson draws interest and new Squad Cost Ratio rules reshape spending.

According to Nottingham Post, the aim is a swift return to Europe, with recruitment and Vitor Pereira’s work aligned as PSR yields to SCR.

Accounts to June 30 2025 show an operating loss near £65m and a £78.9m pre-tax loss, against record revenues of £221.7m. Managerial churn likely added termination costs, with Pereira the fourth appointment of the season.

A new broadcast cycle could cushion the impact of finishing 16th, while reaching the Europa League semi-finals banked about £32m, roughly £25m broadcast and £7m matchday. Bally’s, worth around £8m, must be replaced under the gambling sponsor withdrawal.

SCR caps player wages and amortisation at 85 percent of football revenue plus net profit on sales, assessed annually. With no European football, Forest avoid UEFA’s 70 percent cap and could have relatively greater headroom.

Profit on player sales fell from £100m to £7m in 2024/25, though 2025/26 will be aided by Anthony Elanga’s sale to Newcastle United last July. Forest are not in a forced-sale position and have rejected an undisclosed Manchester City bid for Anderson.

City are believed to want a deal before England’s World Cup on June 17, and any sale before month-end would land in the 2025/26 accounts, helping to offset costs and maintain PSR compliance. Anderson cost £35m in 2024, Forest value him at upwards of £100m, and a July sale would be booked in 2026/27, offering cashflow and SCR headroom. Keeping him could yet better serve a fresh push for Europe.
