Chelsea have drawn up an initial three-man managerial shortlist as the search for Liam Rosenior’s successor kicks off, according to BBC.

Chelsea sent Rosenior packing after just 106 days in charge of the club, ending a short and difficult spell that never quite found its footing.

Having done an impressive job at sister club RC Strasbourg, the Chelsea owners were convinced Rosenior was the right man to replace Enzo Maresca.

However, that decision has now blown up in their faces, with the Englishman sent packing by the Blues almost as quickly as his appointment was confirmed.

Despite signing a shocking six-year deal with Chelsea, Rosenior lasted only four months before being sacked following a deplorable run of results.

He only managed 11 wins in 23 games across all competitions, a record that failed to meet expectations at a club of Chelsea’s stature.

The breaking point came in Tuesday’s humiliating 3-0 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion, which extended Chelsea’s poor run to five straight league losses without scoring.

After that defeat, Rosenior did not hide from the criticism.

He described Chelsea’s display as “indefensible” and “unacceptable,” echoing the frustration of travelling supporters who made their feelings clear.

By then, Chelsea had slipped to seventh place in the Premier League, leaving them seven points behind Liverpool in the race for a Champions League spot.

In their official statement, Chelsea made it clear that “results and performances have fallen below the necessary standards”, leading to Rosenior’s early dismissal.

With Callum McFarlane set to step in as interim head coach until the end of the season, Chelsea will now switch their attention to appointing a new permanent manager.

Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola, Fulham’s Marco Silva, and former Borussia Dortmund manager Edin Terzic are believed to be under consideration.

However, Iraola, who is also subject to interest from Crystal Palace, is believed to be leading the race, with the 43-year-old set to leave Bournemouth at the end of the season.

Chelsea’s managerial search is poised to evolve in the coming weeks, but Iraola is believed to be the leading candidate to replace Rosenior at the moment.
