André Gomes is set to leave Lille, with a move to MLS looming after a season of near inactivity. Head coach Bruno Genesio said on Wednesday the midfielder is in the process of departing.
The Portuguese returned to LOSC in September 2024 after a well-regarded first spell in 2022-23, but his second stint has failed to take off.
He has featured for only seven minutes in two Ligue 1 appearances this season. A Portugal international with 29 caps and a Euro 2016 winner, the former Barcelona player has been on the fringes.
Columbus Crew have offered a two-and-a-half-year contract. With his 150,000-euro monthly wage at Lille no longer matching his standing, the paperwork is not yet signed, but a switch to MLS is now only hours away.
Gomes will not be involved against Red Star Belgrade in the Europa League play-off first leg on Thursday.
