André Luiz addressed supporters on social media after Rio Ave’s defeat to Benfica, saying he would keep going. The player said in a post that some days things do not go as planned.

The Brazilian winger, who remains of interest to Benfica, started in Vila do Conde on Saturday and was replaced on 73 minutes after a display that had little bearing on the result. Benfica won 2-0.

He showed frustration as he left the pitch, heading to the bench with his head down and offering a brusque handshake to a staff member. On Sunday he added that the team moves on.

José Mourinho declined to assess André Luiz’s performance, noting he would not comment on Rio Ave players individually and that from the bench he looks at the game as a whole.

This season, André Luiz has played 19 times for Rio Ave, 18 in the league and one in the cup, logging 1,463 minutes. He has seven goals and five assists, is valued at four million euros, and is under contract until June 2029.
