Andrés García has joined Getafe on loan from Aston Villa for this season.
Getafe said in a statement that they have agreed a season-long deal with Aston Villa, with no option to buy, and that the 23-year-old right-back arrives to strengthen their defence.
The Madrid club moved ahead of Valencia, who made a late push after Thomas Meunier’s proposed move collapsed, but were too late.
Lyon and Alavés had also shown interest earlier in the summer. Getafe had progressed talks with the player and José Bordalás was a key advocate, while Valencia’s delay proved decisive.
Born in Valencia, García came through Levante’s academy and made his senior debut on 3 January 2023 in the Copa del Rey against Getafe. He then moved to the Premier League to join Aston Villa.
An energetic full-back, he is noted for his attacking runs, defensive assurance and aerial strength. He will return to Unai Emery’s side at the end of the campaign.
