Andrés Gómez will miss Vasco’s next Campeonato Brasileiro fixture after collecting a third yellow card in Sunday’s win over Grêmio at São Januário. He is suspended for the trip to Coritiba on 1 April.
The result moved Renato Gaúcho’s side to 11 points, ninth in the table, and Gómez has been ever present in 2026, averaging 83 minutes across 17 official matches. According to PaponaColina, the forward will not get an immediate break, as he is on Colombia duty during the FIFA window.
Néstor Lorenzo has called him for friendlies in the United States as part of the Road to 26 preparations. Colombia face Croatia on 26 March in Orlando, then France on 29 March in Washington.
That absence will provide a breather only after he returns from international duty, and he will not join the travelling party to Paraná.
Vasco’s medical staff plan to use that window to aid full muscle recovery, with the coaching staff targeting his involvement in the 10th round, a derby with Botafogo at São Januário on the first weekend of April.
In Gómez’s absence, training will include attacking tweaks to face the Paraná club, seeking pace out wide and efficiency away from home.
