Andressa Alves has recalled Lionel Messi’s support for Barcelona’s women during her spell at the club, when both wore the no 10.
“It was really cool. We had that interaction between the men’s and women’s teams. It was the MSN era, so I met Suárez as well, and Neymar was flying at that time,” she said. She told Casa Cazé TV.
“Messi, like all the players, congratulated our team. It was dressing-room chat, that sort of thing.”
Alves played for Barcelona from 2016 to 2019, scoring 25 goals in 70 games. She won two Copas de la Reina and three Copas Catalunya with the club.
The interview went out on Tuesday, hours before Argentina’s World Cup opener against Algeria. The South Americans won 3-0, the number 10 scoring all three.
Alves is currently with Brazil for a week of training alongside Corinthians team-mates Nicole Ramos, Ana Morganti, Ivana Fuso, Ana Vitória, Jaqueline and Jhonson. The Brabas return on 17 July against Ferroviária at the Fazendinha in the Campeonato Paulista.
