Andrew Crofts joins Roberto De Zerbi’s Tottenham coaching staff after Brighton compensation deal | OneFootball

Roberto De Zerbi has added Brighton & Hove Albion assistant head coach Andrew Crofts to his Tottenham Hotspur backroom team.

According to NY Times, the clubs have agreed a compensation package for the 42-year-old to join Tottenham and link up again with De Zerbi, having previously worked under him at Brighton.

Crofts joined Brighton’s coaching set-up in 2019 as a player-coach with the under-21s, gained the UEFA Pro Licence in 2021, then became under-21 head coach. On leaving, he expressed gratitude to Tony Bloom and Paul Barber for their backing.

He was placed in interim charge after Graham Potter left for Chelsea in September 2022, without leading a match, before moving onto the first-team staff under De Zerbi and later Fabian Hurzeler. In June 2024 Hurzeler appointed him assistant head coach alongside former Augsburg assistant Jonas Scheuermann.

The former Wales midfielder made 125 Brighton appearances across two spells and featured for Norwich City in the Premier League. He won 29 caps for Wales over 13 years and is also part of Craig Bellamy’s national-team staff.

Tottenham have also appointed Ali James as head of medical services, Tom Tombleson as head of athletic development and Agostino Tibaudi as strength and conditioning coach.
