Flamengo will be without goalkeeper Andrew for Wednesday's meeting with Vasco at the Maracanã in the Campeonato Carioca, 21:30 Brasília time, after his registration was not finalised before the deadline. The paperwork for the club's second signing of the season arrived only on Tuesday, and a public holiday in Rio de Janeiro prevented a timely Ferj filing.
According to Globo.com, competition rules require players to be registered by the penultimate working day before the round and to appear without pending issues by the final working day before the match. If his name is published in the Bira da Ferj by Thursday, he could make his debut against Fluminense on Sunday.
Andrew is already listed on the CBF's BID, but he is yet to appear in the Rio state federation system.
After fielding the under-20s in the first three Carioca games, Flamengo should begin using senior players against Vasco. They are bottom of Group B and currently fighting relegation. Selection decisions are due at Tuesday's training session.
Andrew had been playing for Gil Vicente in Portugal. His last appearance was on 2 January against Sporting, watched from the stands by Filipe Luís and José Boto. Flamengo also have Rossi and Dyogo Alves in the senior goalkeeping group.
