Lazio sporting director Angelo Fabiani categorically denied rumors linking Alessio Romagnoli with the exit door.
The defender is a lifelong Biancocelesti supporter who realised his dream by signing for the Italian capital side in the summer of 2022 after seeing out his contract with Milan.
But over the past few weeks, several sources in Italian football claimed that the 30-year-old is no longer happy at Formello. These reports revealed that the growing rift between the player and the club dates back to 2023, when the hierarchy failed to keep its promise of adjusting his salary after qualifying for the Champions League.

Moreover, other reports suggest Lazio are considering selling Romagnoli to Saudi Pro League club, Al-Qadisiyah, who submitted an enticing offer.
Nevertheless, Fabiani dismissed these stories as mere paper talk. The director spoke to the press (via LazioNews24), and he insisted that he intends to keep his project solid rather than offloading the club’s most pivotal players.
I read that Romagnoli is linked to various destinations, but he has another two years on his contract with Lazio. He is having an extraordinary campaign like many of this teammates. If I talk about a three-year project, it means I won’t dismantle it. I stick to my word. The BS in the newspapers is garbage. I tell the fans to stay calm.
This season, Romagnoli has been a stalwart at the back in Marco Baroni’s tactical jigswa. He has thus far made 40 appearances in all competitions, scoring five goals and providing an assist.
