SCO Angers are looking to retain Hervé Koffi (29), who excelled while on loan from RC Lens last season, as per a report from Foot Mercato.

With Robin Risser arriving from RC Strasbourg Alsace last summer, Koffi was shipped out on loan. All parties benefited. Risser had an excellent season with Les Sang et Or, helping his side to a second-place finish in Ligue 1 and a Coupe de France trophy. His individual performances also earned him a place in France’s FIFA World Cup squad.

Koffi arguably had an even better campaign. No goalkeeper in Europe’s top five leagues had a better post-shot-expected-goals figure. Naturally, Angers want to keep the Burkina Faso international. However, doing so could prove difficult, with Lens setting a €4.5m price tag for the 29-year-old. That is a significant sum for a club as cash-strapped as Le Sco. Anthony Lopes, a free agent since leaving FC Nantes, is another option being considered.
