Angileri made his Corinthians return on Wednesday night as they drew 1-1 at Cruzeiro in the fourth round of the Brasileirão. The Argentine started for the first time in 2026.
João Pedro Tchoca equalised after the break, taking Timão to seven points from four matches and into third place. According to Meu Timao, Angileri’s comeback followed a contract saga resolved only in February.
The 31-year-old completed 90 minutes at Mineirão and recorded seven defensive interventions, including winning all five ground duels. He completed 26 of 34 passes and one of six crosses.
His deal was not renewed at the end of 2025, with talks running through January before he signed until the end of the season. He had not played since Corinthians secured their fourth Copa do Brasil title on 21 December.
The number 26 returned to the squad on Sunday, when Corinthians sealed a Paulistão semi-final place against Portuguesa. He is now Matheus Bidu’s understudy, with Hugo Farias sidelined after knee surgery and expected to return around mid-year.
Corinthians now prepare for a one-off Paulista semi-final at Novorizontino on Saturday at 20:30, at Jorge Ismael de Biasi.
