Barcelona star Frenkie de Jong played no part in training with Hansi Flick’s squad on Wednesday morning.

The Dutchman, it has been revealed, was given permission to take the day off for ‘personal reasons’.

As per a report from Blaugrana insider Carlos Monfort of Diario Sport:

‘It is a personal matter that belongs to the intimate sphere of the player, so it is not advisable to go into details of his privacy.’

It is reiterated that De Jong has not picked up any sort of injury, and will be in attendance at the Ciutat Esportiva on Thursday.

News of the reasoning behind their midfield star’s absence will likely come as a source of relief for those of a Blaugrana persuasion.

This comes after De Jong’s engine room partner, Pedri, was earlier today condemned to an incoming spell on the sidelines through injury.

Elsewhere, also absent from group activities whilst tending to personal matters on Wednesday were both Marcus Rashford, and Pau Cubarsí.
